Rocks, Soil, and Water: Play Dough
Today we visited the other first grade classrooms and explored rocks, soil, and water. We made rock patterns and observed several. In our classroom, we got our hands dirty and made salt play dough.

Alliterations
Today we learned about alliterations. We read Dr. Seuss's ABC and we made alliteration sentences using our names. We then made our faces with paper plates and put the alliteration sentence on a pink tongue! The kids did a great job!

Harmony Around the World:

Harmony Around the World is on April 27th from 6pm to 8pm. We will have performances in the gym first and then you may tour the hallways to see the different projects.
I need to get a head count for how many of the kids will be performing, please RSVP and enter only your first grader in the child attending section. They will need to wear shorts and their field trip shirt (green). The Asalele's are willing to a "costume" for the performance. The cost per child is $1. If your child is performing please send $1 with your child. I will collect the money and give it to the Asalele's.

We need a few volunteers to help prepare food and man the booth. We also need a few items donated. Please check out the signup and help out where you can.
For those of you who are new to Harmony, Harmony Around the World is a fun family activity. There are many countries represented and lots of good food to try. There is a small fee $1 or $2 per plate to help cover the cost. More information will come out about that in the newsletter.
We are also still in need of Lego items donated.

· April 18th: Donations for Lego Basket for Harmony Around the World are due. Anything Lego themed!
· April 27th: Harmony Around the World from 6-8pm. Please watch for signup for volunteering and food preparation. We have been working on a performance throughout the school year. We would love to have as many of the kids here as possible, so mark your calendars!
· May 3rd: Field Trip to Mrs. Baird’s Bakery. More information to come.
· May 18th: Science Fair –information will be coming soon.
