Me and my family:
In 2005 I graduated from Texas Woman's University with my degree in Elementary Education. This is my seventh year with Harmony Science Academy. I have taught First grade for 5 years and taught 1year of Kindergarten. I am married to a wonderful man and have two wonderful boys, 5 and nearly 2. I have two German Shepherds. Harley is 2 1/2 and Sophie is 5 months old. When I am not teaching I enjoy reading, exercising, and spending time with my family. I have recently developed a love for running! I will be running in the Cowtown No Limits Half Marathon on October 27th.
Running:
Boopa's Bagels Family 5K:
On March 8th I ran the Boopa's Bagels Family 5K. It was a very wet run. It was 96 percent humidity! I finished my run in 27 minutes and 42 seconds. A little slower than I had hoped, but the roads were very slick from the ran. I placed 2nd place in my age group. I have placed 2nd place in my age group 2 years in a row. Next year I move up to the next age group. Women in that age group are faster than women in my age group. So I guess more training will be needed to stay competitive!
Lake Benbrook Half Marathon:
On January 26th I competed in the 25th Annual Lake Benbrook Half Marathon. It was a very hilly run with one really steep hill (that we went up and down twice). I finished in 2:00:39! I was really happy with my times. As a bonus, I was awarded 2nd place in my age group!
Cowtown No Limits Half Marathon: On October 27th I ran in the Cowtown No Limits Half Marathon. I finished in 2 hr 5 min and placed 15th in my age group. It was a lot of fun!
Boopa Bagel 5K:
On Saturday March 3rd I ran in the Boopa Bagel's 5K. I finished in 26 min and 59 second. I was the 35th runner across the finish line. I placed 2nd for my age group. It is hard to believe that a little over a year ago I could hardly run a mile.
Cowtown 10K:
On Saturday February 25th I ran in the Cowtown 10K. There were over 4,100 people running in the race. I completed the race in 55 minutes and 48 seconds! This is the first race I have competed in and I am very pleased with my time. I am planning on competing in more races in the future.
